Channel Tutoring

Frequently Asked Questions

How are tutors vetted?
Every tutor completes an application covering their qualifications and experience, which our team reviews before their profile goes live.
Is it safe for my child to message a tutor directly?
Yes. All messaging happens within Channel Tutoring, not over personal phone numbers or social media. Messages are monitored, and anything that looks like an attempt to move communication off-platform is flagged for our team to review.
How do I pay for a session?
Buy lesson tokens for the level you need, securely online via Stripe — individually, or in a block of 5+ for 10% off. Tokens don't expire and can be used with any tutor teaching that level. 1 token is equivalent to a 1-hour session; session length is customisable, so a 1.5-hour session uses 1.5 tokens, a 2-hour session uses 2 tokens, and so on. Once your tutor logs a lesson as taught, the right number of tokens is used automatically and they're paid — no separate confirmation step needed from you.
What if a lesson gets logged by mistake?
Tutors can undo a lesson log within 24 hours, which refunds your token straight away. If it's outside that window, contact us and we'll sort it out.
How much does a tutor cost?
Pricing is fixed by level (KS3, GCSE, A-Level or university admissions) and the same for every tutor — see our Pricing page. There are no hidden fees for clients.
What subjects and levels do you cover?
We cover core subjects from KS3 through GCSE, A-Level and university admissions, across the main UK exam boards (AQA, Edexcel, OCR, WJEC/Eduqas and others). Use Find a Tutor to filter by subject and level, and let us know your exam board when you book a session.
