How It Works

Here's exactly what to expect when booking a tutor.

1. Search for a tutor

Use Find a Tutor to filter by subject, level (KS3, GCSE, A-Level or university admissions) and whether you'd like online or in-person sessions. Every tutor's profile shows their qualifications and weekly availability — the days and times of day they're usually free. Pricing is fixed by level, so it's the same wherever you book.

2. Buy tokens for your level

Buy lesson tokens for the level you need, individually or in a block of 5+ for 10% off. 1 token is equivalent to a 1-hour session at that level — session length is customisable, so a 1.5-hour session uses 1.5 tokens, a 2-hour session uses 2 tokens, and so on. Tokens work with any tutor teaching that level.

3. Message your tutor

Use in-app messaging to agree a day, time and session length with your tutor, along with subject, level and exam board — you can also share files like worksheets or past papers directly in the chat. For online sessions, your tutor will share a Google Meet link beforehand. All messages stay on the platform for everyone's safety.

4. Your tutor schedules the session

Once you've agreed a day and time, your tutor schedules the session on the platform — including an ongoing weekly slot, if that's what suits you. The right number of tokens for the session length is reserved as soon as you have enough; it still appears as an upcoming session even before then, marked as awaiting payment until you top up (you'll get a reminder if a session's date arrives still unpaid).

5. Attend your session

After the lesson, your tutor marks it as complete and is paid automatically — no extra step needed from you. If your tutor needs to cancel a scheduled session, your tokens are refunded in full.
